Who We Are » Sharyn Walker, Ph.D.
Sharyn Walker obtained her Ph.D. in cellular immunology from Stanford University in 1974. She was one of the first scientists to investigate a cytokine. From 1976-1979 she was a post-doctoral fellow at Scripps Clinic and Research Foundation and was a tenure track member for the next 4 years, researching immunological tolerance. In 1983 she joined Children's Hospital Los Angeles/University of Southern California Medical School to research autoimmune disease and was tenured in 1985. In 2004, Dr. Walker joined National Genetics Institute as VP of Research to investigate the role of environmental factors in autism, partly due to the unproven, yet very public suspicion that vaccines are a cause. Dr. Walker has published over 40 papers in peer-reviewed journals and has received grants from NIH and Cure Autism Now.
